Educator Reviews

Why we love this app This app makes an important part of early American history, Paul Revere’s ride, come to life in an appealing and thorough way. It presents loads of meaningful information in a fresh and engaging manner that elementary school students will love. Why your kid won’t be able to put it down - It is very rare to find this much depth and quality design in a history app targeted toward young children. This isn’t just another boring app that tries to entertain kids with a bunch of text and little else.

Commonsense Media

This is an excellent way for kids to learn about the political events, important people, and everyday life during the American Revolution….Overall, this is a top-notch history app.

Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride by Gill Robins

5 Stars – This outstanding app from Cognitive Kid, Inc. sets a new standard in the quality of educational apps. Making history come alive with a combination of gaming, interactivity and investigation, it tells the story of Paul Revere, the American revolutionary, whose midnight ride to warn about the impending arrival of English troops is immortalised in Longfellow’s poem. Writing as a UK reviewer, I highly recommend this as a learning resource for anyone wanting a balanced, accurate and realistic presentation of the facts of the American War of Independence (aka the American Revolutionary War in the US). Learning about history has never been so exciting.

Avatar Generation

We love all types of educational apps, but Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride caught my eye in particular…the graphics, music and storyflow are excellent, and what I really liked was that it used real historical artwork within the game space. I also liked how they used the player as an integral part of history rather than just looking in from above (a la ebook). This is great for student immersion and engagement

History Tech / Social Studies Curriculum

Part video game, part history lesson, the app does a great job of integrating the engaging elements of a game with historically accurate information.  I like the look and feel of the app. I like how teachers could use this to engage kids in thinking about the people and events of the period. And I like how geography is tied into the story. The game seems like a perfect fit for upper elementary / middle level US history teachers.

Blogs And Reviews

This is a wonderful interactive educational app that teaches kids about the American Revolution in a fun way. I really liked the format of this educational app. The educational material was presented in a very interesting manner with the historical characters interacting with Ansel and Clair. Also, getting kids actively involved by taking pictures of key people, events and places is a brilliant teaching tool.

Giggle Apps

Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride is a splendid educational app for iPad 2 and beyond that does a thorough job of explaining the American Revolution and the details of Paul Revere’s ride.  There is so much to say about all the details included within this Ansel & Clair app that reviewing it is a daunting process, but I do feel very excited to recommend this app to all ages of children – older preschool through fifth grade and beyond. I sincerely hope Cognitive Kids continues to add applications to this series as Ansel and Clair apps are perfectly realized educational apps every child could benefit from.

Kids Apps for Holiday Travel

Love, love love everything Ansel & Clair!  We have had the pleasure of reviewing all of the apps and I, as mom, am super impressed by them.  The amount of information that Graham absorbs from these apps is amazing. Graham has been asking us all sorts of great questions about history thanks to this game.  $4.99 and worth every penny!

Superdumb Supervillain

One of the kids’ favorite apps is Ansel & Clair’s Adventures in Africa. Roo and Jasper reviewed it back in summer 2011 and they still enjoy playing it, which in terms of apps is pretty darned impressive. In terms of educational apps, it’s nearly unheard of!…At $4.99, Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride is a great investment in your kids’ history education AND amusement. You’ll all be reciting The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere before you know it…

Special Apps Special Kids

here are currently 3 exceptional apps in the series fromCognitive Kid, Inc.: Ansel and Clair: Paul Revere’s RideAnsel and Clair: Cretaceous Dinosaurs, and Ansel and Clair’s Adventures in Africa.  My ( almost 9 year old and 5 year old) kids love all three- they keep playing them over and over- I am pretty certain they have completed each app but they continue to play anyway- the developers have managed to make learning really fun!

Hip Homeschool Moms

The whole game is so well thought-out and researched, you could tell within the first minute of use! The boys have talked a great deal about Paul Revere this week. My kids are excited about a period in history they now understand and thoroughly enjoy. What more could a mom, homeschool or otherwise, ask for in an educational app?

Smart Apps for Kids

5 Stars – Ansel & Clair: Paul Revere’s Ride is that rarity in the iTunes store – an app that works equally well for grades K-5. My children’s school recently purchased two iPad carts and one of the challenges administrators have had is making sure there are apps on the iPads that are age appropriate for all students. Cognitive Kid, Inc. has made principals’ jobs easier with the release of the third app in the series. It’s too bad Cognitive Kid is so painstaking in its research and innovative in its app design as kids really need all 236 years of American History presented in this fashion.

Top Pick – Fun Educational Apps

Highly recommend Ansel and Clair’s Ride with Paul Revere. It is an excellent example of how a well-crafted app can enrich a child’s knowledge of the world, and do it in an entertaining way.   Think about it: this app could spark your child’s lifelong love of history, because it makes the subject so real.  Cognitive Kid has done it again.

Apps for Children with Special Needs (A4CWSN)

Really great way of learning History…Ansel and Clair not only teach about the founding of our nation; but do it in an engaging way. There is so much interactive content in this app that kids will have a hard time getting bored with it. It features original maps, artwork, music, puzzles, and even a travel log for kids to keep notes of their journey. Instead of just passively clicking Ansel and Clair Ride with Paul Revere makes kids part of the story. Great app to get and I highly recommend it!

What I love about the award-winning (and can we say many many awards) Ansel & Clair series, is that there is an awesome, well thought-out meld between fantasy (Ansel is from space and Clair who’s always by his side, is his trusty, fact-knowing robot) and reality (real places, people, animals, cultures and more). Clearly Cognitive Kid understands that engagement and learning go together hand in hand perfectly.  And for this we give the Cognitive Kid team a “hi-5?…We endorse Ansel and Clair as one of the best app series available on the market today.  So do yourself, and most importantly your child a favor by downloading their apps today.
